Metro Atlanta Commuters suffered through a fourth day of agonizing traffic along I-85 due to the recent conversion of 16 miles of HOV lanes to toll lanes using the Peach Pass system. While Governor Nathan Deal announced that tolls would be capped, the message was of little comfort to the tens of thousands of drivers who have been impacted by this change.
Toll capping is not needed - a restoration of the HOV configuration is. Commuters are angry at seeing empty toll lanes while they are stopped in I-85 traffic. Much of the traffic which was flowing through the HOV lanes prior to October 1st has been forced to the standard lanes because of a lack of desire on the part of commuters to pay any toll.

Several grass root efforts to protest the situation and enact change have sprung up, including this site (please sign the petition at the top right!) The Dacula Patch has a list of many additional efforts here, and The Georgia Road Geek here.
